Retired ECT woodmen Jack Atton and Terry Darby have donated a wooden bench to celebrate the woodland they planted decades ago.
The new bench is now in position next to the permissive path in the Rise Hills woods, overlooking the scenic valley of the Trust’s Little Dalby Estate in Leicestershire. The mixed hardwood trees planted there by Jack, pictured right, and Terry between 1980 and 1996 have now flourished into 40 acres of semi-mature woodland.
“We are all immensely grateful to Jack and Terry for this bench, which is in a beautiful spot next to the permissive path,” said ECT Deputy Agent Jonathan Stebbing. “It means visitors and walkers can sit and enjoy the results of all their hard work.”
