Michael Birnie MRICS FAAV Contact
Michael Birnie has responsibility for the strategic management of all ECT’s nine country estates and property interests. He grew up in a farming community in East Lothian, Scotland, and studied at Edinburgh and Aberdeen Universities before starting his career at rural specialist chartered surveyors Smiths Gore.
He went on to join Buccleuch Estates Ltd to manage the Langholm Estate in the South of Scotland before moving to the South West to become Resident Land Agent at the Longleat Estate in Wiltshire.
Claire McIntosh MRICS FAAV Contact
Claire McIntosh joined ECT in December 2017 as Land Agent. Reporting directly to ECT’s Property Director, Claire is responsible for supporting the management of ECT’s property interests. A chartered surveyor, most recently she has worked for Robert H Hicks & Co in Devon.
Chris Smith MCIOB Contact
Chris is responsible for the management of scheduled maintenance and property development across all the estates. Born and brought up in Cirencester, he completed a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship with EW Beard followed by a period of self-employment before moving to Campbells in Wantage followed by 20 years as Site & Project Manager with Kingerlee in Oxford. Chris is a keen outdoor sportsperson and is a rugby coach, walking leader and scuba diver.
Clare Tapley Contact
Clare Tapley joined the Estates Team in December 2017 as Property Administrator. Previously she worked for the Residential Lettings & Management team at Moore Allen & Innocent, Cirencester and so brings a wealth of experience in residential tenancy matters and customer relations.
Nick Lawson MRICS Contact
Nick Lawson is an MSc Real Estate graduate and joined ECT as full-time Trainee Land Agent, continuing his training to become a Chartered Surveyor. Nick works with Michael and Claire in supporting the ongoing work of the Estates Team.
