We need to talk about Covid

The effects of COVID have been deep and far-reaching for everyone. The Trust and in particular our grant giving activities are no exception.

In January 2021, a third Lockdown highlighted the unacceptable gaps in remote learning access for children across the UK. In response, we diverted £500,000 to this cause (normally earmarked for Outdoor Learning) via our Remote Learning Grant, recognising that these issues must take priority.

This Remote Learning Grant is now closed. Thank you to all the schools who applied for funding.

We are delighted to report that £500,000 has now been directed to schools, helping fund equipment, data and connectivity in homes across the UK.

The ease of the bid process and the speed of the Trust's response is very impressive!

I just wanted to say thank you so much for your incredibly kind and helpful grant towards devices to support our home learning offer. It will make a genuine difference during these difficult times.

This latest scheme continues a shift in our funding activities which began in Spring 2020, when we temporarily closed the usual grant application windows, shifting our focus towards vulnerable children and young people most affected by the pandemic. Our immediate response was to support those most at need by funding the provision of laptops, tablets, broadband access and food parcels.

Please take a look at our library of Case Studies featuring some of the Trust’s activities throughout this pandemic.

OWL Collaboration

In Autumn 2020, The OWL Collaboration went live. This funding-plus programme was devised as an immediate response to the trauma experienced by young people during COVID, bringing together schools, funders and outdoor learning centres.

Educational Visits

Our usual educational visits on the Trust’s estates continue to be subject to the prevailing COVID restrictions. Where it is safe and possible to do so, we are organising some visits, with the necessary safety measures in place. Please contact us for the latest information.

Please be reassured that the Trust’s important work continues as we re-focus our resources and influence during these challenging times.
