Outdoor Futures
I’ve done a thing and I didn’t even know it was a thing!
Every year, we host around 25,000 children and young people on our estates. For some, it’s a serendipitous moment of revelation as they begin to see the possibilities of a future, working in the outdoors.
As the Trust is uniquely positioned to become an exemplar provider of training, we are developing a range of opportunities to give young people of all backgrounds and abilities the skills and qualifications needed for a future in the outdoor sector.
We are particularly keen to help young people from underserved communities, and those who are more suited to learning outside the traditional classroom. Training is overseen by our Outdoor Learning Officers who work in partnership with a variety of experts and organisations, delivering apprenticeships and certification awards.
For some, this will be the first step towards achieving their long-term career goal, for others it will give them sufficient skills and experience to start work in their chosen role.
