Trent on TV
Outdoor learning activities featured on ITV news
ITV News reporter Ben McGrail visited our outdoor learning site at Gore Farm on The Ernest Cook Trust Trent estate in Dorset. His report highlighted the fantastic activities enjoyed by local schoolchildren during the pandemic.
Not only has Gore Farm hosting a group of children each day enabled us to reduce risk by increasing the time the children are outside learning, but the activities have played a huge part in helping children settle back into school, re-establish friendships and reduce anxiety levels.Sherril Atkins, headteacher at Trent Young’s CE Primary School
The activities are run by farm tenants and educators Stuart and Tessa Casely working alongside Angela Webb, our Outdoor Learning Officer based on the estate. Their work underlines the value of time spent outdoors on children’s wellbeing.
Connecting with nature is more important than ever as we recognise the benefits to physical and mental health. Stuart and Tessa have created a really special dynamic in their local community to support children’s wellbeing.Dr Victoria Edwards OBE, Chief Executive
